The Cheater
The original Cheater was an 8'6" long-fish meant for speed and trim. The name came from a conversation I had with a friend one day while surfing some punchy little reef waves. He said that riding a fish is like cheating. Well, this is probably true since they give you that easy wave entry, and all the speed you could want.
Since then, I have made several longer fish, in the 6'4"-6'8" range, for people coming off longboards, or that want an option instead of grabbing a minimal. I make them a little different than other long fish, so that they do actually turn and can handle a little more power than some I have seen by others. They have been getting great reviews, and are becoming one of my best sellers.
I've been applying the Cheater concept to some shortboard designs as well. While I don't do "normal" performance shortboards, I do make some that follow the concept of easy paddling, high wave count, full volume weapons of mass shreddage. If you're interested, give me an idea of what you're after, and maybe we can come up with something unique.
