Semi Traditional Fish

z = z2 + c

The Fish has a long legacy that many people overlook. The original San Diego crew were pushing themselves over the ledges of some gnarly waves, and blowing minds long before anyone else was paying attention. Now, everyone thinks of them as mush busters, but they were made for waves where other boards would fail. Steve Lis, possibly inspired by the Mirandons, broke new ground with his design, which has gone on to inspire a huge subculture of dedicated riders.

My fish reflect that approach, and while they do go well in weak waves, it is in waves with power that they truly light up. Not just fat railed retro wannabees, or carbon copies of the masters, the volume is placed where you need it and removed where you don't for a very versatile board. Do less, get more.

It takes a good surfer to master them, or intermediates that are willing to put in the time, but you will find yourself having more fun than should be possible.

Simple, yet very complex.

Prices are $600 for a clear sanded finish with fin boxes.

Twin keel with clear sanded finish and fiberglass keels add $80.

Fiberglass quad sets, glass on keels, and tints are available as an extra.

I'd like to humbly thank and give respect to Steve Lis for the inspiration, and Rich Pavel for being a true ambassador of stoke to the rest of us.
